Camembert Over A Campfire

Camembert is a French classic, that tastes heavenly when you prepare it over a campfire. The cheese comes originally from the city of the same name, in the Normandy region. The camembert cheese, as we know it today, originated in 1791, and was for 100 years a market cheese. But with the development of the wellknown wooden box, the cheese spread quickly outside the country’s borders.

Ingredients

  • Camembert
  • Nuts
  • Honey
  • Bread, flatbread, or crisp bread
  • Butter

Instructions

STEP 1
Fire up the campfire pan and let the flames burn down to embers.

STEP 2
Place the griddle in a suitable height over the embers and melt the butter.

STEP 3
Place the cheese on the griddle and let it cook until it’s soft inside. If you like, you
can turn it over; but make sure that it doesn’t tear.

STEP 4
Sprinkle nuts (hazelnuts or walnuts) over and with a generous amount of honey
before you serve it with fresh bread, flatbread, or crisp bread

Final tip

Griddle
Ribs or thick steak, fish burger or salmon, hamburger or sausage, fried eggs or pancakes. There are hardly any limits for what you can conjure up with the griddle over a warm campfire pan.
