About Cedar Creek Rustic Furnitures
Cedar Creek Rustic Furniture was founded in 1975 by Richard La Pointe, who turned to furniture-making after several failed ventures, including a motorcycle painting business and a worm farm. Utilizing the white cedar from his land, Richard crafted his first cedar log swings. The business took off when a customer bought his initial creations and later placed a larger order, marking the beginning of Cedar Creek's journey. Despite the initial struggle, the business flourished under Richard's leadership, eventually employing 15 skilled workers and expanding its product line.
After Richard’s passing in 1989 due to lung cancer, Cedar Creek was inherited by his brother Ray and sons, Bob and Joseph. Although Bob sold his share, Ray and Joseph successfully ran the company until Ray's retirement in 2008, leaving Joseph as the sole owner. Joseph, who had been involved in the business since his teenage years, leveraged his extensive experience to further grow the company, expanding sales nationally and into Europe. Cedar Creek, maintaining its legacy, continues to handcraft the original log swing designed by Richard, along with a variety of other log furniture items, and has embraced online sales to reach customers without local dealers.
